Basic research into the interaction of metals in molten salts resulted in a unique method for electrochemical dispersion of metals and alloys (Nb, Ta, W, Mo, Re, Pt, Ni, Cu, Fe, Cr18Ni10Ti steel, etc.). The degree of dispersion is between 10 and 200 nanometers (as required), with the nanoscale component content of 5 to 40%; the specifc surface is tenth fractions of m2/g to several tens or larger.
ADVANTAGES
• On the basis of domestic raw material supplies, it is possible to establish import-substituting industry for making capacitor grade metal powders for high-energy system components, catalysts, etc.
• The equipment used for production of powders is inexpensive. The production process is characterized by low energy consumption.
Tantalum and niobium nanopowders were used to make test batches of capacitors having the following characteristics:
specifc capacity ............................................. 3000 to 65000 mkC/g;
leakage current.........................................................~ 1–10 nA/mkC;
breakdown voltage .............................................................80–180 V.
These characteristics are much better than those provided by domestic manufacturers and are on a par with foreign makes, while the production cost is considerably reduced.

Installation for producing tantalum and niobium metal nanopowders.
