China-Ukraine E. O. Paton Institute of Welding established flashing welding research and development platform，in which instructed advanced technology and equipment via international science and technology cooperation with Ukraine E. O. Paton Institute of Welding. Mechanism and processing optimization are investigated by using the introduced K584Ch equipment on carbon and line pipe steel for petrochemical, pressure vessel industries and so on. Which includes investigating the process parameters on weld quality, analyzing the causes of defects and preventive measures and optimizing the joints mechanical properties by heat treatment. Carbon steel, alloy steel and aluminum alloy etc. were feasibility investigated by using introduced MOC606Ch equipment. The on-line monitoring system of flashing welding parameter and real-time collecting system of welding parameters (current, voltage, displacement, pressure and so on) are developed for deeply investigation the mechanism and controlling parameters of flashing welding. For the pipe welding burs, the plasma removal system was invented for the flashing butt weld. Based on the K584 equipment, the key technology of electromechanical, hydraulic control, algorithm designing etc. had mastered for the domestically manufacturing technology of pipe flashing welding equipment. The application of flashing welding technology was developed in petrochemical industry, shipbuilding and marine engineering and so on. The research contents and objectives have achieved via friendly cooperation with Ukraine E. O. Paton Institute of Welding, such as introduced advanced equipment, assimilated new technology, localized flashing welding equipment and solved application in pipe flashing welding in domestic companies. The experience of this project provided a way to introduce advanced technology and equipment for reference in international cooperation.
