A fundamentally new technology has been developed for recycling of germanium-containing coal-burning +dust, which includes preparation of high-strength pellets followed by elecrtosmelting with germanium sublimation to produce standard germanium concentrates. The technology was implemented at the OAO Mednogorsky medno-sernyi kombinat (Copper-Sulfur Complex); it has also been planned to utilize the technology in a workshop to be constructed for germanium concentrate
production at the OOO Germanii i prilozhenia (Germanium and Applications Company). The development is intended for use at coal mining facilities and companies producing germanium concentrate.

  DISTINCTIVE FEATURES

  The technology allows recycling of the coal-burning dust to obtain standard germanium concentrates. At least 90% of germanium is extracted into concentrate, which is otherwise unattainable by other methods available. The technology provides a multipurpose use of coal for thermal power generation with additional extraction of germanium and is environmentally friendly.
