Heilongjiang Red Cross (Forest Industry General) Hospital was founded in 1972 and opened in 1976. It is a public welfare class II institution invested by the former Ministry of Forestry and subordinate to China Longjiang Forest Industry Group. In 1996, the brand of Heilongjiang Red Cross Hospital was added and the hospital renamed Heilongjiang Forest Industry General Hospital in June 2004 (the name of Heilongjiang Red Cross Hospital remains unchanged). It is a provincial-level comprehensive grade III class hospital, integrating the function of medical treatment, teaching, scientific research, prevention, health care and rehabilitation. The hospital has comprehensive disciplines and strong technical force. It is a designated hospital for provincial medical insurance, municipal medical insurance, forest industry medical insurance, new rural cooperative medical system and railway medical insurance. Besides, it is the teaching hospital of Heilongjiang University of Traditional Chinese Medicine and the cooperative hospital of Harbin Medical University. Furthermore, it is named the chairman of laser urology group of urology branch of Heilongjiang Medical Association and the sponsor of China's scientific and technological core journal ‘progress of modern biomedicine’.

The hospital covers an area of 46 495 square meters in total and the the land used for medical services covers an area of 20 834.5 square meters. The hospital now has 543 employees, including 480 professional technicians. Urology and Cardiology was ranked as the key disciplines of the hospital. Tick borne diseases clinic and traditional Chinese medicine bee therapy room are the characteristic departments of the hospital. The hospital has 28 clinical departments, 12 medical technology departments, 6 professional laboratories, 1 community health center and 1 physical examination center. There are more than 400 sets of various medical examination and inspection equipments. Since 2017, we have imported and purchased 86 sets of ophthalmic advanced medical equipment such as 1470 laser, "physician" 90W holmium laser, three-dimensional sectional corneal topography and anterior segment analysis system, OCT, etc. The ophthalmic equipments has reached the advanced level of the whole province.
